Nick, Al & the Dealers

Oct 18, 2015

Contributed by Al Harlow:  A chance to rock, a chance to pay homage:  On Oct 10 I was invited by friends Franklin's Dealers to guest at their show at the Venue, in downtown Vancouver.  The plan was to honour Ron Tabak during the show with a rendition of Take Me to The Kaptin.  Lead singer Nick Brusatore confided that as a toddler Ron was his babysitter - later a musical mentor.  With Joe Wowk on guitar, ex-touring Prism alumnus Frank Baker on drums, celebrating his stunt-pilot licence graduation, plus bassist Dave Hopia & guitarist Dean Kruger, we were gonna rock this thing.

As we were about to leave the dressingroom for the stage, Nick Gilder walked in, and it was a game-changer:  Kaptin was followed by an extended version of Roxy Roller, to the delight of all in the house.  Great to see Nick again, still in fine form, with the Dealers kicking it out hard.  Wonderful musical night among friends.
